UWF Dance Marathon raises over $55K for Children’s Miracle Network
The 10th annual University of West Florida Dance Marathon raised $55,694.15 on April 2 in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. During UWF Dance Marathon, participants stand on their feet and dance for 10 hours in support of children who cannot. The event was held at Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart.
The 10th annual University of West Florida Dance Marathon raised $55,694.15 on April 2 in support of Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. During UWF Dance Marathon, participants stand on their feet and dance for 10 hours in support of children who cannot. The event was held at Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart.
All proceeds from the UWF event will be donated to Pensacola’s Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart to support the purchase of a new Neonatal transport unit. Studer Family Children’s Hospital is a member of the Children’s Miracle Network, a nonprofit organization that raises funds and awareness for more than 170 pediatric hospitals across North America. Donations are still being accepted.
“This is my final year with Dance Marathon and I am so honored to have been a part of such an amazing organization throughout my college career,” said UWF senior Grace Robinson, executive director of UWF Dance Marathon. “Seeing everyone come together year round to fundraise for the children and their families at Sacred Heart is such a beautiful thing, and there is nothing more that I love than being able to see this firsthand. Children’s Miracle Network and the work that they do is crucial to keep children’s hospitals running nationwide, and I am so happy that this school is able to help make it all happen.”
The Miracle Network Dance Marathon is held at more than 400 locations across the country and has raised over $300 million since 1991. The mission of the movement is to ensure that no child or family fights pediatric illness or injury alone.
About 300 students participated in-person. Winners were split into two divisions. The overall winner was Kappa Delta sorority and most spirited was Alpha Delta Pi sorority.
