UWF, USF’s Doctor of Physical Therapy Program opens application process
The University of West Florida (UWF) and the University of South Florida (USF) Doctor of Physical Therapy Program (DPT) partnership is accepting applications from July 1, 2013 through Nov. 15, 2013 for the Fall 2014 semester.
The new UWF/USF Partnership DPT degree program is a highly competitive program with only 12 slots available for qualified applicants. Admission is reserved for qualified graduates who have completed their bachelor’s degree at UWF. UWF will provide each student accepted into the USF/UWF Partnership DPT with a $2,500 scholarship for each of the three years they are in the program.
The program accepts applications from students completing a minimum of their last 48 hours of upper division course work at UWF toward a baccalaureate degree in an appropriate discipline, including Athletic Training, Biology, Health Sciences, Chemistry, Exercise Science, Psychology and Social Work.
Students admitted into the USF/UWF partnership DPT Program will spend their first year in the program in Tampa at the USF Health School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences and the final two years at UWF. All clinical education internships will be conducted at facilities in Pensacola or the surrounding Florida panhandle.
The USF Health School of Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Sciences participates in the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service, known as PTCAS. Students applying to the entry-level professional Doctor of Physical Therapy degree program will apply online using the PTCAS application, found on www.ptcas.org.
The USF/UWF DPT program offers an unprecedented approach to expand access to UWF students interested in pursuing a DPT degree and help meet a state-identified need for more physical therapists in a largely rural region of the state.
