UWF celebrates Founders Week with in-person and virtual events

The University of West Florida will honor traditions, engage in the community and celebrate the future of the University during its third annual Founders Week, held April 10-15, 2021. This year, UWF will host a combination of in-person and virtual events. In-person events will follow CDC guidelines and UWF COVID-19 protocols, including the requirement of face coverings when social distancing is not possible.

Historical photos at familiar locations display UWF's progress since opening in 1967.

“Founders Week offers the entire UWF community an opportunity to showcase their Argo pride, while giving back in meaningful ways,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “It’s one of my favorite weeks of the year as everyone comes together to celebrate our beloved University.”

On Monday, April 12, the Northwest Florida community is encouraged to participate during Paint Pensacola Blue and Green. Local organizations can fill out a form and get a yard sign delivered to their business to display Argo pride. The UWF community and supporters are encouraged to upload a photo to social media, showcasing their Argo Spirit and using the #UWFFoundersWeek hashtag to win an Argo goodie bag. Random winners will be selected throughout the day.

UWF’s Day of Service takes place on Wednesday, April 14. A drive-thru food and supply drive for UWF’s Argo Pantry will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Argo Pantry is a campus resource that sustains currently enrolled UWF students with free, healthy food and basic personal care items, allowing students to focus on academic goals and progress toward degree completion and not worry about food insecurities. UWF alumni, faculty, staff and students, as well as members of the community, are invited to provide items at the Pensacola campus or at Museum Plaza in downtown Pensacola.

Additional 2021 Founders Week events include:

  • Sunday, April 11 – Friday, April 16: Alumni Virtual Scavenger Hunt through Goose Chase (weeklong)
  • Thursday, April 15: Day of Giving; Office of Undergraduate Research Virtual Student Scholar Symposium; Spring it On
