UWF Student Body President Elected Chair of Florida Student Association

The Florida Student Association, a board made up of the 12 Student Body Presidents from Florida’s state universities, met on Saturday, May 21, 2016 to elect a chair for the 2016-2017 academic year.

President Jacob Hebert from University of West Florida and President Thieldens Elneus from Florida Gulf Coast University were both nominated and made presentations before the board. After brief debate, Hebert was elected. As Chair of the Florida Student Association, Hebert will serve as the student representative and a voting member on the Florida State University System’s Board of Governors. All other Governors are appointed by the Governor of Florida.

“I am excited and humbled by the trust that has been placed in me by the Directors. Only through collaboration will the Florida Student Association truly be able to advance the interests of the students here in Florida.”

The Florida Student Association elected Elneus as External Vice Chair and USF Student Body President Christopher Griffin as Internal Vice Chair.

Hebert is the first University of West Florida representative to serve on the Board of Governors.
