The University of West Florida was named a 2019 “Great College to Work For,” marking the institution’s seventh appearance on the list.

Conducted annually, the Great Colleges to Work For survey collects data and highlights colleges that receive top ratings from their employees on workforce practices and policies. This year, 236 institutions participated in the survey and 85 were recognized.

UWF earned honor roll recognition in the following categories: Collaborative Governance; Professional/Career Development Programs; Compensation & Benefits; Facilities, Workspace & Security; Job Satisfaction; Work/Life Balance; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship; and Respect & Appreciation.

“UWF really is a great place to work. We are a spirited community of learners who care about the differences we are making to the world,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “Every day we are surrounded by hope. Our students have big dreams for their lives. We help make them come true.”

ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm, has conducted numerous “Best Places to Work” programs. Survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographic and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback. The Chronicle of Higher Education published the results in its Sept. 20 issue.

UWF also received recognition in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2016.
