UWF, Pen Air to host Fall 2017 Financial Bootcamp

The University of West Florida College of Business and Pen Air Federal Credit Union will host the Fall 2017 Financial Bootcamp at 11 a.m. on Oct. 25 in the UWF Conference Center.

The presentation, which begins at 11:30 a.m., will introduce basic tips on understanding how to use credit wisely. At 11 a.m., a free lunch will be provided for the first 70 registrants. The event is open to all UWF students, faculty, staff and the general public.

“Student loan debt and credit card debt are on the rise,” said Dr. Tim O’Keefe, dean of the College of Business. “It is vital that our students understand the components of debt, including compound interest and the consequences of differing repayment schedules. Our partners at Pen Air have been wonderful about providing real life, down to earth exposure to personal financial planning in a way that resonates effectively with our students.”

The semi-annual bootcamp invites financial professionals to present guest lectures about financial literacy, personal finance and preparing for post-graduate life.
