The University of West Florida was named a 2020 “Great College to Work For,” marking the institution’s eighth appearance on the list.

Conducted annually, the Great Colleges to Work For survey collects data and highlights colleges that receive top ratings from their employees on workforce practices and policies. This year, 221 institutions participated in the survey and 79 received recognition.

UWF earned honor roll recognition in the following categories: Collaborative Governance; Professional/Career Development Programs; Compensation & Benefits; Facilities, Workspace & Security; Job Satisfaction; Work/Life Balance; Confidence in Senior Leadership; Supervisor/Department Chair Relationship; Respect & Appreciation; Tenure Clarity & Process (Faculty Only); and Teaching Environment (Faculty Only).

“We are pleased to earn this honor once again,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “By fostering creativity and rewarding forward-thinking, UWF provides a positive environment for employees to excel in their careers.”

ModernThink LLC, a strategic human capital consulting firm, has conducted numerous “Best Places to Work” programs. Survey results were based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional audit that captured demographic and workplace policies, and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was employee feedback. The Chronicle of Higher Education published the results in its Sept. 14, 2020 issue.

UWF received recognition in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014, 2016 and 2019.
