UWF BEI moves forward with development agreement for restaurants, retail facilities on East Campus

University of West Florida Business Enterprises, Inc. is moving forward with plans to transform the University’s east campus entrance at the intersection of Hwy. 90 and Campus Drive into a vibrant atmosphere featuring restaurants and retail facilities. The UWF Board of Trustees Finance and Facilities committee ratified the Development Agreement and Right of Entry document for the East Campus Restaurant Development Site during its meeting today.

The UWF BEI Board of Directors approved the agreement at their Feb. 17, 2014 meeting, and the full Board of Trustees is scheduled to consider ratification of the agreement during its March 26, 2014 meeting.

Pending consideration of the full Board of Trustees approval, on-site construction is scheduled to begin in Spring 2014. A Project Commencement Ceremony will also be held in late Spring 2014, and some of the restaurants are expected to open in Winter 2014. The business venues to be developed will be identified in late February or early March.

UWF BEI is partnering with Compass/Chartwells, the University’s dining services contractor, to provide a unique atmosphere on the east campus that will attract UWF students, faculty, staff, prospective students and visitors of the Northwest Florida region, increasing the University’s visibility. The East Campus Restaurant Development Site will feature a mix of retail price points that will be attractive to the University community and the general public.
