The University of West Florida’s John C. Pace Symposium Series, in partnership with the Pensacola State College’s Black History/Multicultural Committee, will present the dance company Ailey II on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. at the Pensacola Saenger Theater.

Ailey II is universally renowned for merging the spirit and energy of the country’s best young dance talent with the passion and creative vision of today’s most outstanding choreographers. Started in 1974 as the Alvin Ailey Repertory Ensemble, Ailey II embodies Mr. Ailey’s pioneering mission to establish an extended cultural community that provides dance performances, training and community programs for all people. Today, it has become one of the most popular dance companies in the United States.

“Pensacola State College is delighted to partner with UWF to bring the world renowned, iconic Alvin Ailey Dance Company to Pensacola.  Alvin Ailey is a cultural phenomenon, and it’s been years since they’ve toured this area.  This is a rare opportunity to see brilliance in motion.  Come on out and bring the entire family.  You don’t want to miss Alvin Ailey,” stated Dr. Gael Frazer, Associate Vice President, Institutional Diversity at Pensacola State College.

“The Ailey II Dance Troupe is a thrilling display of movement and dance as well as assault on your senses that will leave you breathless and wishing you were dancing long after you leave the theater,” said Dr. Angela McCorvey, associate vice president for Diversity and International Education and Programs at the University of West Florida.
