UWF to host annual Disability Awareness Day program
The University of West Florida ADA Office will host the ninth annual Disability Awareness Day Program on Oct. 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the UWF Auditorium. The theme is “Real People, Real Impact: Celebrating Community and Changing Attitudes.”
This year, the Disability Awareness Day Program will honor disabled veterans. The featured keynote speaker is Brian Fleming, a combat-wounded military veteran and resiliency coach for the U.S. military. Fleming is considered a leading authority on effectively battling post-traumatic stress, overcoming stress and veteran entrepreneurship. He is also an author, motivational speaker, mentor and producer.
The event will also feature a special presentation by Ret. Army Sgt. Scott Stephenson, wounded warrior and co-founder of Tempered Steel Wounded Warrior Program. Other guest speakers include Buzz Ritchie, former State Representative and President/Co-Founder of Gulf Coast Community Bank, and State Representative Clay Ingram.
