Pamela Bowen Schwartz gifts $25,000 scholarship endowment to UWF
University of West Florida alumna, Pamela Bowen Schwartz, recently bestowed a scholarship endowment award of $25,000 to the university. This award celebrates Teachers Connecting Schools to Community on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Florida Alpha Delta Kappa. With this award, Schwartz also pays tribute to the teachers, mentors and scholarships which have enabled her to live the American Dream.
University of West Florida alumna, Pamela Bowen Schwartz, recently bestowed a scholarship endowment award of $25,000 to the university. This award celebrates Teachers Connecting Schools to Community on the occasion of the 60th Anniversary of Florida Alpha Delta Kappa. With this award, Schwartz also pays tribute to the teachers, mentors and scholarships which have enabled her to live the American Dream.
Schwartz received an Elementary Education bachelor’s degree in 1969 and a Reading Education Master’s Degree in 1978, both from UWF. During her 30 years of service to Escambia School District, she received various honors and was recognized in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Since retiring in 2002, she is actively involved not only in leadership positions with Alpha Chapter and Florida Alpha Delta Kappa, but also with several community organizations advocating for children, public education and the arts.
As stated in Schwartz’s A Diamond Jubilee: Florida Alpha Delta Kappa Sixty Years of History, “Alpha Delta Kappa purposes will always be true. Teachers connecting schools to community, our pledge renew. Continuing our Founder’s Vision with learning lifelong, with love, service and friendship we will keep our bonds strong.”
Founded in 1947 by Agnes Shipman Robertson, Marie Neal, Marion Southall and Hattie Poppino, Alpha Delta Kappa exists to recognize and support the professional efforts of outstanding women educators. As an international honorary organization of women educators, Alpha Delta Kappa is dedicated to educational excellence, altruism and world understanding.
