Association of College and University Auditors recognizes UWF AVP for Internal Auditing

Betsy Bowers, UWF Associate Vice President for Internal Auditing and Management Consulting, was recently awarded the Member of Excellence in Service Award by the Association of College and University Auditors.

Betsy Bowers, UWF Associate Vice President for Internal Auditing and Management Consulting, was recently awarded the Member of Excellence in Service Award by the Association of College and University Auditors.

The ACUA Member of Excellence in Service Award, originated in 1997, recognizes a member who has made outstanding contributions to ACUA through exceptional volunteer service in fulfilling its mission. The award is announced each year at the ACUA Annual Conference. 

“Betsy is a tremendous professional,” said UWF President Judy Bense. “Her expertise and knowledge is unsurpassed and we are proud to have her as a part of the UWF team. She is truly deserving of this honor.”

Bowers has worked in higher education for more than 30 years as a grant accountant, internal auditor and internal audit director/chief audit executive. Prior to joining the University, Bowers worked at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and Northeast State Technical Community College (NSTCC).

Bowers received a bachelor of business administration in Accounting and a master of business administration from East Tennessee State University. She is a past national president of the Association of College & University Auditors, past editor for the ACUA College & University Auditor Journal and coordinator for ACUA faculty. She serves on the Board of Directors for the Northwest Florida Institute of Internal Auditors and the Northwest Florida Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.
