As the COVID-19 outbreak rapidly evolves and expands, UWF will continue to follow the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the Florida Department of Health and the Escambia County Health Department. We want to alert you to travel suspensions or restrictions that the University has implemented to prevent the potential spread of COVID-19 as well as new travel guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Study Abroad

All student university-sponsored international travel is suspended through Summer 2020. This suspension of student international travel includes athletic programs and events, research, internships, study abroad, exchange and faculty-led programs. Faculty and staff who have concerns regarding international travel for scheduled study abroad programs may contact the Office of International Affairs at international@uwf.edu.

All UWF students who are currently abroad on university-sponsored travel are required to return immediately to the U.S. and are advised to self-isolate and practice social distancing. The Office of International Affairs is working one-on-one with students who are actively studying abroad about their plans to return.

Any campus community member who returns to campus from a destination where there is sustained COVID-19 outbreak should prepare to self-isolate or be quarantined per CDC guidelines in place at the time of their return to campus.

University Travel Restriction

International travel: All university-sponsored international travel (business-related travel, study abroad, exchange, faculty-led programs) is prohibited until further notice.

Domestic travel: All university-sponsored domestic travel (business-related, faculty-led programs) is prohibited unless approved by the divisional Vice President. All new university travel will require pre-approval by the appropriate Vice President. We recommend alternatives to this travel be identified and pursued. Please be aware that anyone who chooses to engage in essential university travel may risk exposure to COVID-19 and may also risk being subject to travel delays returning home, as well as mandatory quarantine or self-isolation at their destination or upon returning home.

Email Scam Awareness

In situations that garner worldwide attention or even national attention, malicious actors often create imposter or forged websites purporting to provide new information or asking you to donate or contribute to humanitarian aid. Please be on high alert and do not follow links found in unexpected emails. Even if you suspect a link is valid, do not use your work computer to investigate it. We are all counting on each other for the health and security of the UWF Network.
