UWF names Betsy Bowers as vice president for finance and administration

University of West Florida President Martha D. Saunders has appointed Betsy Bowers as vice president for finance and administration, effective Sept. 1. Bowers, who was named interim vice president for the division in September 2017, previously led UWF’s Internal Audit and Compliance Department.

“Betsy has proven herself as a key member of UWF’s leadership team,” Saunders said. “Throughout her years at UWF, Betsy has gained the respect of her colleagues and shown invaluable commitment to the success of the university. I value her insight into UWF’s business strategy and operations.”

As vice president, Bowers provides effective leadership, oversight and administration of all activities within the Division of Finance and Administration, including facilities management, campus buildings and grounds management, financial services, campus police, environmental health and safety, procurement and contracts, business and auxiliary services and Business Enterprises, Inc. Bowers also serves as Chief Financial Officer of the University and as the institution’s senior administrative liaison to external groups and agencies on matters related to administrative operations.

“I am thrilled to continue contributing to such a well-respected organization and working toward our strategic goals that include investing in and maintaining UWF’s infrastructure,” Bowers said. “I work with a great team of people who take pride in their work and in our University.”

Bowers was named interim vice president on Sept. 1, 2017 and has since provided executive leadership to the Finance and Administration Division. She has a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s in business administration from East Tennessee State University, and holds numerous professional certifications and professional and civic affiliations.
