UWF and Los Alamos Technical Associates to launch Joint Cybersecurity Training Program
The University of West Florida recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Los Alamos Technical Associates to jointly offer cutting-edge cybersecurity training programs to working professionals and LATA clients worldwide.
“This exciting joint endeavor combines LATA’s extensive and innovative homeland security and public safety training capabilities with the UWF Center for Cybersecurity and Department of Computer Science‘s industry-leading cybersecurity programs, including access to UWF’s state-of-the-art Cyber Battle Laboratory,” said LATA Vice President Dr. Indu Singh.
Bob Kingsbury, CEO of LATA added, “UWF’s synergetic cybersecurity training partnership with LATA will generate a positive result worldwide much greater than what either organization could achieve on their own.”
“This partnership provides an exciting opportunity for UWF to expand our cybersecurity program into new areas, especially into the international arena,” said Dr. Michael Huggins, Dean of the College of Science, Engineering and Health. “We are very enthusiastic about the new collaboration and the experiences it will bring our faculty, students and cybersecurity program.”
The initial event showcasing this joint training program will take place this summer when the 1st Annual LATA/UWF Cybersecurity Boot Camp will be held at UWF’s Center for Cybersecurity. This Cybersecurity Boot Camp will be an intensive, hands-on and thoroughly practical training program covering such topics as: Cyber Wargaming, Penetration Testing, Ethical Hacking, Cybersecurity Risk Management, as well as Implementation of the NIST Framework. Both industry and government participants from around the world are expected to attend this year’s Cybersecurity Boot Camp.
