UWF Executive Mentor Program to host panel discussion: What Employers Look for in New Hires

The University of West Florida Executive Mentor Program will host a panel discussion, “What Employers Look for in New Hires,” featuring representatives from three Pensacola-area employers on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2016.

UWF students and the public are invited to the UWF College of Business, Building 76A, Room 101, where they will have the opportunity to meet the panelists from 4:30 to 5 p.m. Dr. Kristie Abston, assistant professor of management, will moderate the panel discussion from 5 to 6 p.m.

Panelists include: Denise T. McLeod, vice president of human resources & staffing at Landrum HR; Michelle Scaglione, vice president of employee services at Navy Federal Credit Union; and Marty Tutchtone, human resources director at Gulf Power Company.

“We are delighted to have three of the top human resources leaders at three of the top employers in the area take the time to share with our students straightforward advice about what employers look for in new hires,” said Dr. Sherry Hartnett, director of the UWF Executive Mentor Program. “The experts will speak about topics such as what to include on your resume, the importance of giving your best to every job, knowing your strengths and opportunities for improvement, and finding meaningful work that satisfies you.”

A part of the UWF College of Business, the Executive Mentor Program pairs undergraduate and graduate students with Northwest Florida business executives to help the students establish connections in the business world and gain valuable insights into issues such as career choice, networking skills and career development.
