UWF Educational Research Center for Child Development awarded CCAMPIS Grant by the U.S. Department of Education
The University of West Florida Educational Research Center for Child Development was recently awarded funds through the Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Grant by the U.S. Department of Education. UWF is one of only two Florida universities to be awarded this grant.
The CCAMPIS Grant exists to support pell-eligible and military affiliated students in post-secondary undergraduate or graduate education through the provision of campus-based child care and after school services.
“This is a wonderful accomplishment by Cyndy Watson and her staff,” said Jim Hurd, senior associate vice president of student affairs. “We know that UWF has a significant population of students with young children who will qualify for support from this grant. This additional financial support for students with young children can be a game changer for those students working hard everyday to complete their education while providing for quality childcare. We are proud of Cyndy for the vision to make this possible for our students.”
All UWF pell-eligible and military- affiliated students who receive childcare or after school program services through the Center for Child Development can participate in a sliding scale discounted childcare rate. The grant will assist qualifying students in the pursuit of their academic goals to graduation.
The UWF Center for Child Development is an Educational Research Center for Child Development on the university campus to support academic persistence and success by providing a high- quality culturally inclusive early childhood learning environment for children of students, faculty and staff; by providing opportunities for students at UWF and in the community to engage in field experiences; and by providing opportunities for UWF faculty and students to conduct research.
