The UWF Department of Music will present its 10th Annual All-Steinway School Celebration on Saturday, Jan. 30 at 7:30 p.m. The concert will be held in the Music Hall at the Center for Fine & Performing Arts, Building 82, on the Pensacola Campus.

Through a generous gift from Helen Wentworth in 2006, the UWF Department of Music became the second university in Florida to earn the distinction of being an “All-Steinway School.” UWF started the annual celebration in honor of Helen and Warren Wentworth. The event’s piano showcase features some of UWF’s best piano performance students and has grown in popularity as an annual event in Pensacola.

The concert will feature solo piano works by composers Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, Gershwin and Albeniz. In the second part of the program the young pianists will perform movements from Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto, Tchaikovsky’s B flat minor Concerto and Liszt’s Totentanz.

Since becoming an All-Steinway School, many talented pianists have passed through the program and continued at top graduate programs such as the Cleveland Institute of Music, Florida State University, Yale University, Louisiana State University, the University of Tennessee, Michigan State University, Montclair University, Baylor University and many more. Their successes bring recognition to UWF.

To highlight the 10th anniversary celebration, Bolton Ellenberg will return to the stage. Ellenberg performed in the first Steinway showcase at the age of 12 and just graduated from the Cleveland Institute of Music. He will perform the Liszt Concerto in his return to UWF.

The celebration is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. For more information or to reserve tickets, contact the CFPA Box Office at 850.857.6285.
