UWF to celebrate Homecoming 2014 Oct. 13-18

The University of West Florida will host Homecoming 2014 Monday, Oct. 13 through Saturday, Oct. 18.

A variety of events will be featured during Homecoming, from a kickoff pep rally and concert, Cannon Fest and Trivia Game Show to the annual tailgate and men’s and women’s soccer games. Other events include the Honors Program 25th Anniversary celebration, Department of Nursing Informatics and Simulation Lab Ribbon Cutting, the Pen Air Federal Credit Union Financial Literacy Boot Camp and ghost tours in historic downtown Pensacola. As part of Homecoming, UWF will also co-sponsor Gallery Night on Friday, Oct. 17 in downtown Pensacola.

As an annual tradition, the Homecoming Student Executive Board participates in a service project to benefit a local charity. This year, the students selected Argo Pantry, which provides UWF students with free, healthy food and basic personal care items during times of need. During Homecoming Week, the UWF community will support Argo Pantry by hosting food drives, volunteering and donating items.

“Our students may not realize that some Argos are not able to supply themselves with basic, everyday necessities,” said Brooke Policicchio, executive director of the Homecoming Student Executive Board. “Teaming with Argo Pantry not only supports these students, but also brings awareness to the entire campus community. Coming together to build a sense of community and Argo pride is an important aspect of Homecoming.”
