UWF earns Gold-level Military Friendly Distinction

The University of West Florida has been recognized as a gold-level University in the large public school category in the annual Military Friendly Schools list for 2020-2021. UWF was the only large, public school in Florida and one of two in the nation to earn the gold distinction for success in helping veterans make the transition from the military to school and, ultimately, rewarding careers in the civilian world.

UWF to host lecture highlighting community support of military veterans

The University of West Florida chapter of Student Veterans of America will host “Overcoming Adversity” on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the UWF Conference Center. The event will highlight the achievements of the Carl Brashear Foundation, Volunteers of America, Student Veterans of America and the UWF Military Veterans Resource Center for their continued advocacy in assisting military and veteran communities.

Research engineering and education facility helps meet military needs

Recently named one of the country's top military-friendly schools by Military Advanced Education magazine, the University of West Florida offers innovative educational opportunities to help meet the military's needs. In addition to the UWF Emerald Coast Campus centers at Eglin Air Force Base and Hurlburt Field, UWF engineering students also have the opportunity to utilize the University of Florida Research Engineering and Education Facility (REEF), located adjacent to Eglin in Shalimar.

UWF hosts first virtual State of the University address

University of West Florida President Martha D. Saunders reflected on the institution’s perseverance and adaptability before looking ahead to "bright days" during her 2020 State of the University address on Thursday, Oct. 22.
