New housing director for UWF selected
The University of West Florida welcomes Leigh Prouty as the University’s director of Housing and Residence Life. Prouty will begin serving in this role at the University on June 28, 2021.
As director, Prouty will oversee the staff of Housing and Residence Life and all services provided by the unit. Her responsibilities will include budget planning and management, facilities management, and the overall direction of the Department of Housing and Residence Life.
“Leigh will play an important role as we prepare for a full return to campus this fall following the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Dr. Kim LeDuff, vice president for the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs. “We look forward to her leadership and fresh perspective as we welcome more students back to campus.”
Prouty has more than 15 years of experience working in higher education. In her most recent role, she served as assistant director for residence life at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas for seven years. In this position, she supervised and managed a staff of over 100. Prior to this role, Prouty served as residence education coordinator at the University of North Carolina Charlotte.

Prouty earned a master’s degree in college student personnel and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and law from Western Carolina University.
