‘It’s time to Slay Cancer with Dragons’ performance raises money for pediatric cancer

A unique performance including Imagine Dragons covered by local band Goldmine and the Choral Society of Pensacola will benefit pediatric cancer. The event will be held on Nov. 4 at 7:30 p.m. at the Clark Family Cultural Center. Tris Weeks, lead singer of Goldmine and owner of Tris Music LLC, has been planning this concert for years and hopes it will become an annual event. The musical performances are a collaboration between Weeks and Dr. Peter Steenblik, the director of the UWF Singers and the Choral Society of Pensacola. Mixon Magic Performing Arts has joined in the evening’s program to present an unforgettably moving mix of dance and spoken word.

Together Steenblik and Weeks are producing a blend of choral voices and rock music unlike anything ever produced in this area. They are arranging some of the best music of Imagine Dragons as a tribute to the band and to raise money for Imagine Dragons’ pediatric cancer foundation, the Tyler Robinson Foundation. Imagine Dragons is a Grammy Award-winning band with major hits such as “It’s Time,” “Believer,” “Thunder,” and dozens of other chart-topping songs.

The evening will also consist of a presentation about the Tyler Robinson Foundation. Tyler Robinson’s big brother, Jesse Robinson, will be the special guest emcee.

A classic rock band from Pensacola, Goldmine has become a staple on the Gulf Coast music scene performing everywhere from the Alys Beach Amphitheater to Vinyl Music Hall. The band recently produced their debut EP, set to release soon, with a Nashville-based producer who has worked with artists such as Mumford & Sons and Kelly Clarkson. Band members also perform in professional ensembles such as the Pensacola Symphony Orchestra and the Jazz Society of Pensacola.

This pediatric cancer benefit show will be a fusion of choral music, rock and roll, dance, and spoken word, providing Pensacola with a highly unique concert experience. It will consist of a high-energy set from Goldmine that transports audiences back to the golden era of classic rock, as well as a beautifully curated UWF Singers set of diverse choral pieces under the direction of Steenblik. Together with Mixon Magic Performing Arts, this event will harness the immense power of music to help families in their fight against pediatric cancer.

A private VIP sponsor and special guest party will be held immediately preceding this event.  For sponsorship opportunities or other information, please call 850.525.6057.
