The Art Gallery at UWF presents “Altered State” at The 52 World’s Inspire Apartments

The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida in collaboration with The 52 World presents “Altered State,” a multidisciplinary exhibition featuring work created by student artists in the department’s BFA Summer Studio class. This exhibit will take place through Oct. 1 at The 52 World’s Inspire Apartments, part of a master-planned Pensacola community. The public is invited to a free reception for the exhibit on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 6 to 8 p.m at The 52 World, 8511 Myslak Way. Reception RSVP is encouraged via Eventbrite.

In this exhibition, UWF instructor Marzia Ransom thoughtfully curates work developed during the BFA Summer Studio class. The course offers emerging artists a clear path to deepen their understanding of what it truly means to build a cohesive body of work. Guided by Marzia’s mentorship, students occupied department studio space and advanced their artistic practice, encouraged by openness and honest exchange. The studio became a place of shared thought, critique and communal experience. Artists worked side by side, their creative practice advancing with each conversation and critique.

As part of a growing partnership between TAG and The 52 World, the master-planned community has provided a venue where emerging artists can showcase their talents and connect with the broader artistic community. Speaking on the choice to feature this work at The 52 World, TAG director Stasha Willis says, “Cultivating relationships, like the partnership with 52 World, that expand student access to creative opportunities helps strengthen the region’s growing arts ecosystem.”

TAG at UWF seeks to challenge, stimulate and engage students and the greater public through direct interaction with modern and contemporary artworks. UWF and the surrounding communities can visit TAG at the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82, on the Pensacola campus to view exhibitions year-round.
