UWF to host 38th annual national flag football championships

The University of West Florida Recreation and Sports Services will host the 38th annual NIRSA National Flag Football Championships from Jan. 5 to 7, 2018 at the Ashton Brosnaham Complex at 10370 Ashton Brosnaham Drive. Registration is currently open for open teams until Wednesday, Jan. 3. Teams registered for the open division will play on Jan. 6 and 7.

The NIRSA National Flag Football Championships is a pool play tournament, with at least the top two teams of each pool advancing to a single-elimination playoff. Each team, made up of 10 to 16 players, is guaranteed a minimum of two games.

“We are proud to host the National Flag Football Championships again this year,” said Jessica Coleman, assistant director of competitive sports at UWF. “Eighty-one unique institutions were represented at the tournament last year by either a team, staff member or an official.”

The first-place winner of the open division tournament will receive a $1,000 cash prize. Registration is $400 per team.
