UWF hosts Creating Career Chemists event

The University of West Florida Department of Chemistry hosted a “Creating Career Chemists” panel discussion today to provide chemistry majors with valuable information about the field.

The event featured experienced industrial chemists, including Dr. Tom Etheridge of Hewlett-Packard; Dr. Maria Ellul of ExxonMobil; Dr. Alan Shrock of Dow Chemical; Dr. Fred Hileman of Monsanto, Solutia and Ascend Performance Materials; and Dr. Amy Meyers of McSwain Engineering. The panelists will speak to UWF chemistry students about attaining jobs and succeeding in the chemical industry, as well as which skills are most important to companies and more.

Students were given the opportunity to ask questions during the panel discussion and networked with the speakers during a reception that followed the event.

This event was funded by a Pace Academic Development Award.
