UWF, JCPenney host virtual Argos Suit Up!
The University of West Florida Office of Career Development and Community Engagement is partnering with JCPenney for the fourth Argos Suit Up! Program from Feb. 12-May 2. The program is part of a national initiative designed to assist students in building a professional wardrobe for job/graduate school interviews and future employment.
The event will be hosted virtually this year, allowing students and alumni the opportunity to shop for professional attire on the JCPenney website at discounted rates for the entire weekend.
“We are thankful to JCPenney for partnering with us so that our students make the best first impression possible when meeting potential employers,” said Lindsey Walk, director of community and employer engagement for UWF CDCE. “A professional wardrobe is important for both in-person and virtual interviews. It sends a message that the candidate is taking the interview process seriously.”
UWF and JCPenney hosted the first Argos Suit Up! Program in Spring 2018, with President Martha D. Saunders pledging $10,000 in personal funds which allowed the CDCE to create a financial support program. Since the initial pledge, Saunders and other individuals have donated to the program. Nearly 1,100 students and alumni have participated in the program, with nearly $30,000 in gift cards and financial assistance awarded.
CDCE awarded scholarships through Financial Aid to eligible students and alumni who demonstrate a need that aligns with the mission of the program.
