UWF hosts Domestic Violence Training
The University of West Florida hosted the Escambia County Domestic Violence Coalition’s annual Domestic Violence Training Monday and Tuesday, April 1 and 2 at the UWF Conference Center. Pensacola Police Department Chief Chip Simmons spoke to more than 275 attendees on Monday, and Escambia County Sheriff David Morgan and Santa Rosa County Sheriff Wendell Hall greeted the crowd on Tuesday.
The two-day training focused on “The Professional’s Challenge in Addressing Domestic Violence.” It featured two guest speakers from the National Institute of Crime Prevention who spoke on responding to domestic violence crime. The free training was open to law enforcement officers, prosecutors, probation officers, victim advocates, social workers, students and interested members of the public. Attendees were issued Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Continuing Legal Education (CLE) certificates.
