UWF Department of Music presents UWF Singers Concert ‘Arise!’

The University of West Florida Department of Music presents the UWF Singers in the concert “Arise!” The performance will take place on Tuesday, April 17 at 7:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1212 East Moreno St. in downtown Pensacola.

Under the direction of Dr. Peter Steenblik,the choral ensembles will present a program of dynamic highs and lows with texts by Anne Frank, Hafiz, Rumi and John Lennon. The moving words will be set to the music of such greats as Rachmaninoff, Betinis and Morley.

The centerpiece of the program is Tarik O’Regan’s “Triptych,” a meditation on death inspired by Rumi’s words: “So, why then should I be afraid? I shall die once again to rise an angel blest.”

Special guests will include the Pensacola West Percussion Ensemble, Pensacola Children’s Chorus, Dr. Leonid Yanovskiy as well as faculty and students from the UWF Department of Theatre.
