UWF celebrates seventh annual Founders Week beginning April 12

The University of West Florida will honor traditions, engage in the community and celebrate the future of the University during its seventh annual Founders Week, which will be held April 12-17. Founders Week is a weeklong celebration that serves as an opportunity to bring the UWF family together, welcome alumni and visitors to campus and give back to the community.
“Founders Week is a celebration of all that UWF has accomplished and a look ahead to our promising future together,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “I am looking forward to seeing both new and familiar faces as we share our Argo pride during the wonderful events we have planned.”
The week will kick off with Day of Play on April 12. Beginning at noon, members of the community are invited to the UWF East Sports Complex, where there will be yard games, tie-dye shirt creation stations, shaved ice treats, vendor booths and baseball and softball games. Shirts and treats are free while supplies last. At 1 p.m., UWF’s softball and baseball teams will play West Alabama at Jim Spooner Field and the UWF Softball Complex. There will be free admission to baseball and softball games.
Founders Week will continue with more ways to celebrate UWF, including Argos Day of Service. Service projects are planned in Pensacola on April 15 and in the Fort Walton Beach area on April 16. Those interested in participating can learn more and register online at uwf.edu/argosdayofservice.
UWF’s seventh annual Day of Giving, an online, social-media-driven effort that supports the University and its programs, will be held on April 17. Argonauts and friends are invited to give to UWF funds at dayofgiving.uwf.edu.
Additional Founders Week events include:
- Tuesday, April 15: UWF Emerald Coast Argo Pantry Food Drive; College of Arts, Social Sciences and Humanities Gulf Coast Culture Series, “True South: A Conversation with John T. Edge”
- Thursday, April 17: UWF Office of Undergraduate Research Student Scholar Symposium and Faculty Research Showcase; Argo Pantry Food Fight
