UWF BFA student awarded $1,000 scholarship

Jane Hatcher, junior Bachelor of Fine Arts student at the University of West Florida, was recently awarded the third annual Visual Arts Scholarship by Blue Morning Gallery, totaling $1,000.

“The privilege to be recognized for my artistic endeavors blows me away,” Hatcher said. “Receiving the Blue Morning Gallery scholarship will assist me in reaching my goals. This accomplishment addresses what I strive for – that the further the creative envelope is pushed, the more enchanting the compositional conclusion becomes.”

Hatcher’s work will be displayed during the Winner’s Exhibition held at Blue Morning Gallery, which will run from Sunday, March 30 to Saturday, April 26. A reception will be held onFriday, April 11 from 5 to 8 p.m.

“We are very fortunate to have the support of the members of the Blue Morning Art Gallery,” said John Markowitz, chair of the UWF Department of Art. “Each year, their generosity provides a deserving junior art major with a scholarship that not only offers much needed financial assistance, but also formally recognizes their hard work, talent and determination.”
