The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida presents “Points of Departure: Foundations Exhibition,” from Jan. 10 to 26. A reception will take place on Jan. 26 from 12 to 3 p.m.

This exhibition displays the excellence achieved in the foundation courses in the Department of Art at UWF. In contrast to “TAGGED,” TAG’s annual juried student competition, this is an open-call exhibition curated by the foundation-level art instructors.

The objective of “Points of Departure” is to showcase the challenges and successes introductory-level art students encounter in drawing, ceramics, painting, printmaking, photography, digital arts and graphic design. These foundation courses are a crucial component of the program and form the cornerstone to a successful art-making practice. The works created in these classes are presented in a raw, unencumbered, salon-style format to engage students, faculty and the greater Northwest Florida community through a variety of media and expression.

TAG is located in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82. TAG is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 12 to 4 p.m. All events are free and open to the public. For more information, visit the TAG website or contact Nick Croghan, TAG director, at artgallery@uwf.edu or 850.474.2696.
