The Art Gallery at UWF presents “Beyond… The Residency”
The Art Gallery at the University of West Florida presents “Beyond… The Residency.” A product of UWF Art and Design Professor Jim Jipson’s Beyond Ideas and Concepts course, the show explores the artistic process from inception to creation. “Beyond… The Residency” will run Sept. 4 – 18 with a closing reception on Sept. 18 from 5 to 7 p.m.
Focusing on curiosity, collaboration and self-discovery rather than rigid technique, viewers are invited into the creative process, being challenged to feel first and think second as they view the exhibition. During the summer HVAC renovation in the Art Wing, students cohabitated the gallery space with Professor Jipson, engaging in prompt-driven exercises prioritizing the artistic process over the final product, allowing dynamic ideas to unfold through reflection, conversation and intuitive exploration in this unique exhibit.
TAG at UWF seeks to challenge, stimulate and engage students and the greater public through direct interaction with modern and contemporary artworks. UWF and the surrounding communities can visit TAG in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Building 82 on the Pensacola campus, to view the exhibition. An artist lecture featuring Quintron and Miss Pussycat will take place in TAG from 5 to 6 p.m. on Sept. 4.
TAG is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday during scheduled exhibition dates and observes all UWF closures and holidays. All events are free and open to the public. For more information, visit uwf.edu/tag.
