Pensacola Pledge Scholars Calls for Applications

Pensacola Pledge Scholars program is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year. The program awards eligible recipients $2,000 per academic year to attend University of West Florida (UWF), and $1,200 to attend Pensacola State College (PSC).

Pensacola Pledge Scholars program is now accepting applications for the 2013-2014 academic year. The program awards eligible recipients $2,000 per academic year to attend University of West Florida (UWF), and $1,200 to attend Pensacola State College (PSC).

To apply for the Pensacola Pledge Scholars program, students must submit an application, two letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay on “What being a citizen of Pensacola means to me” by April 1.

Students interested in applying for the Pensacola Pledge Scholars program must apply for admission to UWF or PSC before March 1 for first round of funding. In addition, applicants must reside within Pensacola city limits and graduate from an Escambia County public high school the same year as college entrance.

In fall of 2012, UWF and PSC welcomed 35 Pensacola Pledge Scholars, amounting to approximately $60,000 in scholarship awards. Out of these students, 24 freshmen are currently enrolled at UWF and 11 at PSC.

Quint and Rishy Studer established the Pensacola Pledge Scholars program in 2012 to provide local high school graduates the opportunity to earn a scholarship in order to obtain a college degree.
