Survey: 63 percent of Santa Rosa residents want new courthouse

In a new column, Amy Newburn, assistant director of the Haas Center at the University of West Florida, discusses a recent Haas Center study that gauges Santa Rosa County residents’ sentiment regarding the county courthouse. Among the survey’s findings:

Sixty-three percent of those surveyed said they believe the county needs a new courthouse.
Forty-nine percent of participants said the new courthouse should be located within the Milton city limits.
Respondents were divided on how the county should pay for the courthouse. No funding method received support from more than 23 percent of those surveyed.
