UWF to host admissions event for displaced Virginia College students
The University of West Florida Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Complete Florida will host a Drop-In Transfer Day on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2019, providing personalized admissions guidance and resources to local students displaced by the recent closure of Virginia College.
Prospective students are invited to come by Argo Central, a one-stop shop located in Building 18, offering access to information pertaining to Admissions, Financial Aid, Financial Services and the Registrar’s Office. UWF enrollment counselors, admissions counselors, financial aid counselors and Complete Florida coaches will be available to answer questions anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Following the abrupt nationwide closure of the college, students in Pensacola and the surrounding areas are looking for alternative options to finish their education. Virginia College locations shutdown earlier this week after the college lost its accreditation.
“We know this is a difficult situation for many students in our area, and we want them to know UWF is here to help,” said UWF President Martha Saunders. “We have many resources to guide them in the pursuit of their educational goals.”
At Drop-In Transfer Day, students will have the opportunity to learn about the programs UWF offers that align with their career path, review transfer options and discuss financial aid opportunities. Students will also learn about the option to enroll in Complete Florida at UWF, an online platform available for students to finish their degrees.
