UWF Notice: Monitoring Severe Weather – University Closure

Notice #2 – University officials are closely monitoring the severe weather potential that is forecast for tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Northwest Florida. 

Out of an abundance of caution, the University of West Florida will close at noon tomorrow, Wednesday, April 10, 2024, and reopen at 5 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2024. This includes all classes, events, campus activities and online courses. The UWF trolley will suspend operations tomorrow, April 10, 2024. The Nautilus Market will remain open for dining. Normal University operations, classes, events and campus activities will resume Thursday, April 11, 2024, unless conditions change, in which case, University officials will notify all students, faculty and staff. 

The upcoming severe weather has the potential for strong storms with winds up to 50 mph, quarter size hail and flooding. Please use your best judgment in regards to traveling during the severe weather.

As local school districts close tomorrow for severe weather, the University understands this may affect employees and students with children in school. If you are impacted by a local school closure, please contact your supervisor or instructor.

To ensure you receive future University communications, confirm that your contact information is up-to-date in the University’s communication system, “Mobile Alert.” Log in to my.uwf.edu and search “Mobile Alert” to update and add contact information. 

University officials encourage students, faculty and staff to learn more about storm preparedness at uwf.edu/uwfstorm. Weather information is available by tuning into WUWF at 88.1FM or online at wuwf.org. Updates from the National Weather Service are available at weather.gov/mob and twitter.com/NWSMobile.
