UWF Innovation Institute and FloridaShines to host first Virtual College Night

FloridaShines, Florida’s student hub of innovative educational services, is pleased to host its first Virtual College Night on Nov. 16-17. FloridaShines is administered by the University of West Florida Innovation Institute.

“FloridaShines has everything students need to get ready for college,” said Nashla Dawahre, assistant director of advising and student services. “Our two-day event offers six one-hour sessions covering a range of subjects from college admissions to financial aid to career planning.”

Representatives from the Florida College System, State University System, Florida Department of Education and others will participate.

The Virtual College Night is free and open to Florida High School juniors and seniors, parents and counselors looking for information on preparing for college, including where to go, what degree to earn, and how to pay for it without breaking the bank.

Wednesday, Nov. 16 

5 to 6 p.m. ET: Techniques, Tips and Tools for School Counselors
6:30 to 7:30 p.m. ET: College 101 for High School Students
8 to 9 p.m. ET: College Survival Guide for Parents

Thursday, Nov. 17 

3 to 3:30 p.m. ET: MyCareerShines: Plan Your Future Today
4 to 5 p.m. ET: FAFSA: Your Gateway to Financial Aid
5:30 to 6 p.m. ET: Back-to-School Basics for Adults
