UWF College of Business Executive Mentor Program to host award-winning journalist, Michael Ryan

The UWF College of Business Executive Mentor Program will host Michael Ryan, author of The BOOM! BOOM! Book, on Wednesday, Oct. 29 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the UWF Conference Center for his presentation, “Practical Tips to Make Sure Your Career Doesn’t Go Bust!”

Ryan, an award-winning journalist and business executive, provides motivational advice that will help make or break your career. He will detail the road to success, how to take care of yourself, how to take control and what to avoid if you become a manager.

President of Ryan Media Consultants, a strategic communications and marketing firm based in Scottsdale, Arizona, Ryan’s book is used by University professors from New York to Oregon as a supplemental text to give students real life career advice. He also conducts training sessions at businesses using concepts from the book including for a division of Nationwide. He has appeared on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, among other national programs promoting his book.

Ryan is a former vice president at The Arizona Republic, overseeing all 18 community Republics. He was the managing editor at the Pensacola News Journal for nine years and was active in the Northwest Florida community. He received a bachelor’s degree from St. Bonaventure University and a master’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology.

The UWF College of Business Executive Mentor Program matches students from the University with influential community business leaders who share their personal and professional experience, knowledge and skills. The one-on-one mentor relationship allows for individual attention to the student mentees’ career aspirations, professional development and networking needs. The access to local business leaders provides students with an inside track for full-time, post-graduate employment.

This event is free and open to the public. A drawing will be held for those present to receive a free copy of Ryan’s The BOOM! BOOM! Book. If you are interested in attending this event, please call 850.474.3239 to RSVP or email executivementor@uwf.edu.
