“It’s not every day that the American Revolution rolls onto campus,” said Zachary McCulley, program director of the Academy of American Civic Republicanism. “The hope in our office is that visitors leave intrigued by that question Americans have been grappling with ever since the founding: what does it take to govern ourselves? The Freedom Trucks will give people of all ages in our community a fun place to start exploring it.”

Designed to bring the history of the American Revolution to life for visitors, this traveling exhibit features Revolutionary-era artifacts, interactive touchscreen activities and games, AI-generated portraits of historical figures and audiovisual displays that explore the people, ideas and events that shaped the United States. Throughout the three-day visit, guests may walk through the museum at their own pace and interact directly with the exhibits.

As part of the ongoing commemoration of America’s 250th anniversary, the event is intended to provide students, faculty, staff and members of the greater Pensacola community with an accessible and engaging way to learn more about the nation’s founding, its defining chapters and how that innovation continues to shape the future. Through custom-built exhibits, guests are presented historical artifacts with modern interactive technology rather than static exhibitions or traditional lectures. The mobile museum will continue traveling across the country until the end of the year.

Established in 2025, the Academy of American Civic Republicanism focuses on teaching and researching civic republicanism in the classical tradition. Throughout the year, the academy hosts lectures, conferences and community projects to understand and debate the foundational principles of the United States.
