UWF’s School of Education receives CAEP accreditation

The University of West Florida’s School of Education recently received accreditation for their educator preparation programs by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation, or CAEP. The accreditation is valid through Spring 2030.
“The CAEP Accreditation is a testament to the remarkable efforts of our students, faculty, staff and district partners,” said Dr. Denise Soares, dean for the School of Education. “At the University of West Florida, we demand excellence from our teacher and principal preparation programs, and this national recognition confirms that we are meeting that high bar. It also provides our students and their families with the assurance that their investment is in a nationally accredited program for teacher and principal preparation.”
Educator preparation providers seeking accreditation must pass peer review of the CAEP standards. CAEP accreditation is grounded in two fundamental principles: conclusive evidence that the provider’s graduates possess the skills and compassion essential for effective teaching, and the provider’s educator staff’s proven ability to foster and leverage an evidence-driven culture for continuous improvement in their instructional quality. UWF is among 34 educator preparation providers that received accreditation in the review. Currently, there are 549 providers approved under the CAEP Accreditation Standards.
