UWF Notice: Tropical Storm Eta

University officials are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Eta, which is currently off the western coast of Cuba and is forecast to make landfall along the Gulf Coast on Sunday, November 15, 2020. All University of West Florida locations remain operational at this time. If conditions change, the University will update the campus community.

The track of this system remains uncertain. However, according to the most recent update from the National Weather Service, the path of Tropical Storm Eta is expected to continue moving slowly northward across the eastern Gulf through the end of the week and then weaken to a tropical depression as it nears the north central Gulf Coast. At this time, local impacts potentially include tropical depression force winds, high rip currents and a small craft advisory over the open Gulf waters beginning Wednesday night or Thursday. Shifts in the forecast track may be possible over the next few days.
