UWF Notice: Hurricane Delta Update #3

University officials are continuing to closely monitor Hurricane Delta, which is now a category 2 hurricane and is forecast to make landfall on the Louisiana coast on Friday, Oct. 9. All University of West Florida locations remain operational at this time. If conditions change, the University will update the campus community.

According to the most recent update from the National Weather Service, the path of Hurricane Delta is forecast to turn north over the central Gulf and then northeast before making landfall in Louisiana. At this time, local impacts include a threat of storm surge with the potential for coastal flooding, as well as dangerous surf and rip currents. The Pensacola area is expected to receive 1-3 inches of rain with the heaviest rain most likely Friday afternoon into Saturday morning.

University officials are closely monitoring Hurricane Delta, which is now a category 4 hurricane and is forecast to move into the Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday, Oct. 7 and make landfall on the Louisiana coast early Saturday morning, Oct. 10. All University of West Florida locations remain operational at this time. If conditions change, the University will update the campus community.

According to the most recent update from the National Weather Service, the path of Hurricane Delta is forecast to turn north and northeast, as well as weaken in strength, prior to landfall. At this time, local impacts include a threat of storm surge, dangerous surf and rip currents, tropical storm force winds and potential heavy rainfall. The Pensacola area is expected to receive 3-5 inches of rain beginning Thursday, with the heaviest rain most likely Friday into Saturday.

University officials are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Delta, which is currently over the central Caribbean Sea and forecast to move into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by Tuesday night, Oct. 6. All University of West Florida locations remain operational at this time. If conditions change, the University will update the campus community.

According to the most recent update from the National Weather Service, the path of Tropical Storm Delta is expected to strengthen to a hurricane as it moves northwest into the Gulf of Mexico and approaches the northern Gulf Coast. At this time, local impacts include a threat of storm surge, dangerous surf and rip currents and potential heavy rainfall.
