University officials are closely monitoring Hurricane Ida, which is currently a category 4 hurricane located in southeast Louisiana.
All UWF locations, including the Pensacola campus, UWF Emerald Coast and UWF Historic Trust, will close Sunday, Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. and will remain closed through Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 4:59 a.m. This includes all classes, events, campus activities and online courses.
Normal University operations, classes, events and campus activities will resume Tuesday, Aug. 31 at 5 a.m., unless conditions change, in which case, University officials will notify all students, faculty and staff.
According to the most recent update from the National Weather Service, local impacts include up to 15 inches of rain with potential flash flooding, potential tornadoes and wind gusts up to 50mph.
Residential Students: If necessary, a decision may be made to evacuate UWF residential students to the on-campus ride-out facility. This decision will be made as the storm progresses and communicated in a timely manner to residential students. Dining Services will work with Housing and Residence Life on facilitating dining options during the closure. These options will be communicated to residential students through Housing and Residence Life staff.
