UWF Notice: Monitoring Hurricane Ian

University officials are closely monitoring Hurricane Ian, which is currently a category 1 hurricane heading toward the Gulf of Mexico. All University of West Florida locations remain open at this time. If conditions change, the University will update the campus community.

According to the most recent update from the National Weather Service, Hurricane Ian is forecast to become a major hurricane tonight or early Tuesday before moving into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico on Wednesday. Hurricane Ian is forecast to approach the west coast of Florida Wednesday into Thursday. At this time, the Northwest Florida area is not expected to be directly affected.
