The Haas Center at the University of West Florida has developed an online dashboard that provides easy, quick and simple navigation related to key indicators of community success, including health and social wellbeing, education, quality of place, economic vitality, as well as workforce and demographics.
“Data visualizations shed light on opportunities to improve our community,” said Nicole Gislason, executive director of the Haas Center. “The site was developed in conjunction with Achieve Healthy EscaRosa and Achieve Escambia, our cross-sector community collaboratives focused on health and education. The Haas Center is thrilled to partner with these organizations that are comprised of so many community leaders working together for a common purpose.”
The Achieve Dashboard is intended to supplement other existing data dashboards and will be updated routinely and improved to meet the growing and changing needs of the community.
“Our goal is to provide a free, easy-to-use tool that allows us to better understand the realities that residents, families and our community members are facing,” said Jennifer Grove, chair of Achieve Healthy EscaRosa and vice president of Baptist Health Care. “By focusing on the key indicators in the dashboard, the collaborating organizations are hopeful that citizens and organizations in our community will utilize it to drive programming, align resources and leverage new resources and opportunities to make improvements in our community.”
Users are able to navigate and search the site for specific data sets, as well as download and utilize the graphics in their own reports and presentations.
“One of the dashboard’s core strengths is the use of streamlined graphics to communicate yearly changes on various metrics in the Pensacola Metro Area,” said Claire Kirchharr, associate director of the Escambia County Healthy Start Coalition. “Each partner curated different sections of the site and will work to keep the metrics and the story of the data updated over time.”
The UWF Haas Center supports the region and the state with workforce and survey research, economic impact modeling and industrial innovation. The team partners with UWF students, faculty and external experts to deliver dashboards like this one and others around the state, including the Florida Gap Map.
