The goal of the initiative is to bring all Argos together for one day and make a lasting impact for students by choosing from more than 80 funds to support. “We are grateful for our alumni, students, staff and friends who used their financial support to voice their belief in the value of what we do at UWF,” said UWF President Martha D. Saunders. “These investments will create abundant opportunities for our students. Together, we are making a positive impact in Northwest Florida and beyond.” With a theme of “Battle of the Decades,” the University encouraged supporters to make a donation for their graduation decade or to support the decade when they first associated with UWF. The 60s and 70s decades brought in the most dollars, totaling $34,370. The 2020 and Students decade group brought in the most donors with 211 donors. A member of the inaugural fast-pitch softball team at UWF, Natalie Patterson, donated $10,000 which made UWF Athletics the largest recipient of gifts. The UWF Athletics fund received $65,420 from 187 donors. Throughout the day, matching gifts were made by the Ambersley Family Foundation, Drs. Fatema and Muhammad Rashid and alumna Pam Schwartz. For each gift of $30 or more, participants received a pair of exclusive Argo print socks. “Our donors ensured this year’s Day of Giving was a great success,” said Howard Reddy, vice president for University Advancement. “Our collective giving has the power to spark great change. Thanks to our Argo family, UWF students are better positioned to succeed in their educational journey and beyond.” For more information about UWF Day of Giving and the featured funds, visit dayofgiving.uwf.edu.
