UWF announces deputy chief diversity officer and title IX coordinator

The University of West Florida has named Kendra Riley as its deputy chief diversity officer and Title IX coordinator.

The University of West Florida has named Kendra Riley as its deputy chief diversity officer and Title IX coordinator.

In this role, Riley will be responsible for overseeing the University’s compliance with Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 and other laws and rules relating to discrimination based on sex or gender. The DCDO and Title IX coordinator supports the development and oversight of short-term and long-range diversity planning that aligns with the University’s Diversity Plan and serves as the University’s primary administrator for cases alleging misconduct, gender-based discrimination, harassment, intimate partner violence, and stalking for students, faculty and staff.

“Kendra will make an even greater impact at UWF in this new role with her deep-rooted commitment to inclusive excellence and her wealth of knowledge relating to compliance work,” said Dr. Kim LeDuff, vice president for the Division of Academic Engagement and Student Affairs and chief diversity officer. “Her leadership, spirit and experience will play an important role in creating an even more inclusive experience at UWF.” 

Riley previously served as an academic advisor at UWF for five years. Riley held several roles in which she addressed equity and diversity issues including assistant minority outreach coordinator, director of a federal TRIO program, state representative campaign coordinator and director of corporate services/human resources for a nonprofit organization. Riley has experience organizing community outreach initiatives and compliance work.

“I look forward to taking my passion for inclusive excellence and working with students and underrepresented communities to UWF’s Office of Equity and Diversity,” said Riley. 

Prior to joining UWF, Riley worked as a program assistant in Recruitment, Retention and Multicultural Affairs as part of the College Outreach Program at the University of Florida. She served as director of the Upward Bound Program at Santa Fe College. Riley earned a Bachelor of Arts in English Education and Master of Education from Florida A&M University and a Juris Doctor from the University of Florida.
