UWF receives $2.75 million planned gift commitment

University of West Florida graduate, John Switzer recently committed a planned gift valued at $2.75 million, one of the largest contributions in UWF history. The gift will provide support to the College of Business and UWF Athletics.

“John’s planned gift commitment of $2.75 million to UWF represents one of the largest bequests to the institution in its history,” said Dr. Kyle Marrero, vice president of University Advancement. “John has been a tireless advocate of UWF and supports the growth and direction of the university.”

“I hope that my gift to the university will inspire those throughout Northwest Florida to continue to give back. Education is an experience that not only impacts an individual, but positively affects an entire community,” Switzer said.

Switzer received a B.S.B.A in Management Information Systems from the University of West Florida 1989 after completing a successful career in the U.S. Navy. Since graduating from UWF, Switzer has been a consistent supporter.

Switzer has been a long-time supporter of the University of West Florida College of Business. In October 2012, the University of West Florida will celebrate the grand opening of the state-of-the-art College of Business Education Center.
