UWF Notice: Tropical Storm Nate
Oct. 5, 2017

University officials are actively monitoring Tropical Storm Nate, which is currently located in the Caribbean. In order to provide the campus community with the opportunity to prepare for potential weather conditions, all UWF locations will be closed Saturday, Oct. 7 at noon through Monday, Oct. 9. This includes all classes, events, campus activities and online courses.

Normal University operations, classes, events and campus activities will resume Tuesday, Oct. 10, unless conditions change, in which case, University officials will notify the campus community.

Residential Students: If necessary, a decision may be made to evacuate UWF residential students to the on-campus shelter. This decision will be made as the storm progresses and communicated in a timely manner to residential students. Dining Services will work with Housing and Residence Life on facilitating dining options during the closure. These options will be communicated to residential students through Housing and Residence Life staff.

The Health, Leisure and Sports Facility will remain open with normal operating hours on Saturday, Oct. 7. The facility will be closed Sunday, Oct. 8 and Monday, Oct. 9.

This week’s home football game against Mississippi College has been moved to Friday, Oct. 6 at 6 p.m.

Faculty and Staff: Essential University employees may be required to work during the closure. Please discuss your schedule with your supervisor. Before leaving work on Friday, Oct. 6, faculty and staff are asked to follow precautionary measures to prepare work areas. Please consult with your building emergency coordinator for details and further instruction.
