UWF names new department chair for Teacher Education and Educational Leadership

The University of West Florida College of Education and Professional Studies has named Dr. Guofang Wan chair of the Department of Teacher Education and Educational Leadership.

Wan joined the UWF faculty in September from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. At VCU, she directed the School of Education’s Office of Graduate Studies and served as professor and program chair for the Department of Teaching and Learning. Her higher education career also includes more than 20 years of experience teaching and advising students at Ohio University, Bradley University and Penn State University, as well as seven years at colleges in China. An award-winning researcher and author, Wan has frequently presented work at national and international education conferences.

“I’m excited to join the remarkable College of Education and Professional Studies at UWF and very honored to have the opportunity to lead the Department of Teacher Education and Educational Leadership to the next level of excellence,” Wan said. “I envision a community-valued as well as a nationally and internationally recognized department.”

The Department of Teacher Education and Educational Leadership offers initial teacher preparation programs and advanced educational degree programs that prepare graduates to be teachers, principals and educational leaders.
